Woody
Woody is a lanky, cowboy who is the leader of Andy's toys. As a leader, he takes this job very seriously while reminding the other toys of the importance of always being there for Andy. Woody serves as the voice of reason among the toys. However, Woody struggles with losing his place in Andy's heart when he receives a toy named Buzz Lightyear for his birthday. He grows to be very jealous of the attention surrounding Buzz's flashy features. He becomes so jealous, that he begins staging plots to "get-rid-of" Buzz. By the end of the film, it is clear that Woody sees the error of his ways, and he and Buzz become the best of friends. Woody is a character who ultimately struggles with various internal conflicts that reflect his morality.

Sid Philips
Sid is Andy's next door neighbor, and is every toy's worst nightmare. He is constantly conjuring up new means to torture or misuse toys. Rex
Although Rex may look like a ferocious dinosaur, this Tyrannosaurus may be one of the most lovable toys in Andy's toy box. Rex is often insecure or conscious of his small roar, but is always there for his friends regardless. Like most of the other toys, Rex is fascinated by the arrival of Buzz Lightyear. However, he shows how timid he is when he ultimately sides with Woody due to pressure from the other toys. He is gentle in the sense that he is one of the few toys that never physically attacks Woody. He shows his modesty by expressing feelings of guilt when it is discovered Woody was telling the truth all along.

Slinky Dog
Slinky Dog, better known as Slinky or Slink, is a half dachshund, half slinky toy that speaks in a Southern accent. As the saying goes, "A dog is a man's best friend," and this holds true for him and Woody. He is loyal and goes through great lengths to help his friend. Like the others, he is fascinated by Buzz's arrival, but is one of two (Bo Peep being the second) who are actually worried about Woody when he and Buzz disappear. Although he begins to give up on Woody, he ultimately helps rescue Woody and Buzz near the end of the film.

Mr. Potato Head
Mr. Potato Head is hot-headed to say the least. He is a witty pessimist, who is also outspoken and sarcastic. He ridicules Woody upon Buzz Lightyear's arrival, and he clearly has it out for Woody. He blames him for "pushing" Buzz Lightyear out of the window, and often leads the other toys to be against him. Because of his distrust of Woody, he is the one who convinces the other toys to throw him off the moving truck. After realizing Woody was actually telling the truth, he and Slinky help rescue Woody. He is also very excited upon the arrival of Mrs. Potato Head in the end of the film.

Sarge and the Bucket O' Soldiers
Sarge and the Bucket O' Soldiers tackle any job with an incredible amount of determination and teamwork. They are very disciplined, and follow a strict, "Leave no man behind," policy. They are the ones who venture out of Andy's room to report to the other toy's what Andy will be getting for his birthday. Like most of the other toys, they have an "up and down" relationship with Woody, or that their relationship starts off as one of mistrust and develops into them being willing to work under Woody again.

Bo Peep
Bo Peep is technically not one of Andy's toys, but since he often uses her in his creative role-playing, it feels as if she belongs with the rest of his toys. Bo is Woody's romantic interest, and she is often the one there comforting him if he is scared. She is also considered to be daring with her words and actions.
